Review of Inwood Local(Inwood NY)
Hello all I hope everyone enjoyed the Inguaral Blmm report week. I decided to Go uptown for this weeks review past the new happening areas right into Inwood. I see Harlem's new role as hotspot and go to destination as a good thing in that the outskirts will now have some of the more interesting hangs. I seen this before Williamsburg begat bushwick park slop begat south slope and on and on. This is true of Harlem as well as Inwood is starting to shake its roots as dive bar city(much much more on this in later posts) and getting some hip spots of its own. One spot in particular is Inwood local a beer and wine bar(mostly due to zoning laws i hear) which is pretty cool. I went there before and had a blast so I figured why not go back and run it thru its paces. First off the beer selection is good but not good enough if there is no liquor. Its not a huge gripe but if I hated beer or wine this place would have 0 interest to me. With that aside the beer selection they do have is pretty good and they do a great job offering based on tastes and food so the service is a major plus. I also enjoyed the music they played very eclectic I heard Gerry Rafferty and MF Doom all in a 15 window which is my kind of mix. The food was good like real good in terms of price being reasonable and flavor. I also enjoyed the unassuming decorations in there it felt very downtown bistro/cafe which makes for a great meet up spot or second or more date(too loud for a first date). There is a backyard area but the weather prohibited me from partaking but I am pretty sure that would be a great look come spring/summer. Would I go back yes 100% but only if I am in the area it is not travel worth past 15 blocks based on the lack of liquor and few options other then that(other then the legion of real deal dive bars). I would say if you are north of 145th and want to try out a new area you can do no wrong checking out Inwood Local.

Playlist for the month of november 2013
What's up bros what it do? First ever Playlist and I debated on how to do this as I wanted to originally do a actual playlist but that did not work due to the disparate music styles I am going to put up here. I settled on 7-10 songs of different tone that I am listening to this week. Some will be new like that week new and others will be hidden gems that are a bit older. Also a review if it is applicable such as this weeks brief review of Action Bronson's "Blue Chips 2".
Blue Chips 2 by Action Bronson with Party Supplies
I LOVE this dude for one he is from Queens the secondly he is from North Queens(there's a huge difference) then he sounds like Ghost face killa a lot. While Ghost face was very abstract to the point of street Dadaism Action is a punch line machine(I am in these streets like a bum shit)and makes every song sound like he is rapping for his life. I like pretty much the whole album the Party supplies(more on them in a bit) production is very sparse and samples WCBS level music and one song which is a medley of 80,s songs(sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel gets a turn) The only fault I find in this and any Action Bronson outing is that it sounds very free styled which is fine if you are just starting out but he should be past that lo fi shit by now. It sounds as if he is going into the studio and smoking up and just letting it rip which sounds kind of amateurish at this stage of his career. Its a free tape so that's a small complaint I say if you haven't heard this yet run don't walk to datpiff and get on this asap and thank me when you do.
Playlist
1)Ben Jamin "Levitate" Lo Fi goodie that works well on either side of your commute very quality track if you are into atmospheric music
2)Duncan Gerow "Miguel X Evil Needle Mash-up Do You" This Is so fucking dope! The love I have for Evil Needle is large and I love the track(Qualia) but having Miguel vocal on it leads to a butta smooth combo that can and will lead to babies being made you have been warned.
3)Action Bronson "Contemptary Man" I was just talking about the album but this cut is severe. He is spitting on like 5 1980,s songs and killing it as if he would die if he didn't and it shines on a LP that is all shine.
4)Duckwrth "Fukushima" I like this guy he is like a less annoying Danny Brown to me and get a few of his tracks this month and letting them sit in the shuffle before I go all in. So far this song is the best and coincidentally the newest one. Give it and him a whirl I think you will like it.
5)Django Django "Waveforms" This WHOLE album is great it feels old in the best possible way like 60-70,s rock at its most experimental finest. It is trippy but not to the point of silliness and takes risks but not for the sake of taking risks. This song in particular makes you want to move and that is always a good thing.
Johbim "Wave" I will always have a Bossa Nova track on the list that's a not for debate. This is a lovely track by Antonio Johbim the master of the groove in my opinion and this works at any point of your day or night or mood. Pop this into a Pandora station and only this and wait for unlimited samba goodness

Review of Burnside (Williamsburg Brooklyn)
I am not going to lie this is going to be as biased as a motherfucker but I like to start this blog off with a bar I thoroughly enjoy and bring some good energy too boot. I am friends with the owners who are super nice and run a wonderful bar so I am not lying about my gushings. First thing first the bar is located in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn far removed from the glut of spots on Bedford but in the middle of the second wave glut further south. This place stands out buy one having the coolest rustic design which feels very cabin in the woods without ever being cheesy. Secondly the food menu contains gods gift to man the cheese curd which is so gooey and bad for you but so damn delicious. They also carry other Mid western fare which from my mid west friends hit the mark so I have to take their word for it. The booze selection is really nice in regards to the beer being mostly a selection of local crafts and low priced stand bys(Milwaukees best for the win)as well as the neighborhood staple shot and beer special(5$). Variables such as crowd which is very manageable during the week and could be a group meetup for the beginning of a night or a date spot or a last destination. The weekends it gets a bit crowded but never to the point of annoyingly so but a first date there. The music is a mix of rock and folk which if you like stuff like that will tickle your fancy if you don't you barely notice it. They also have a shuffleboard table which is easy enough to learn and has ample places to leave your drinks and food as you get into the deft touch of shuffle board. I cannot say enough things about this place Its not to pricey and the staff is super cool and the location is right off the train and there is parking up the ass plus due to the new glut of locations you can easily include this in your night and not feel locked in. I give this the first ever "Rotation" award as you should put this in your rotation asap
décor-woodsy without being douche
booze-decent beer selection and hand crafted cocktails made well
Variables-great mid western food and a awesome staff plus shuffleboard
verdict-Rotation
